First Holy Communion and Reconciliation programme 2009-10

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND RECONCILIATION PREPARATION starts in September, with parents and children coming together to prepare for these very special sacraments. During the first part of each session the children are introduced to the themes in the ‘I Belong’ programme. At the same time, parents meet with Father John to discuss these themes at an adult level. The final part of the session takes place in the Church, where children, parents, priest and catechists join together for a short celebration.

ENROLMENT will take place at the Sunday Masses on the weekend of 5th/6th September 2009. Please attend the Mass of your choice, bringing with you the blue ‘I Promise’ form - signed by both the child and parents. Father John will invite you to come forward with your child during Mass, when he will collect the ‘I promise’ forms and present the children with their ‘I Belong’ books.

PREPARATION SESSIONS will take place on the following Saturdays (9.20 -11.00 am).

The children will make their First Reconciliation on one of the following dates:-

Monday 16th November 4.15 pm
Wednesday 18th November 4.15 pm
Saturday 21st November 9.30 am
Monday 23rd November 4.15 pm

The children will receive their First Holy Communion at 11.00am on one of the following Saturdays:-

1st/8th/15th May at 11.00 am

Rehearsals for First Holy Communion will take place on:-

Thursday 29th April, 4.15 – 5.15pm   for Saturday 1st May
Thursday 6th May,   4.15 – 5.15pm   for Saturday 8th May
Thursday 13th May, 4.15 – 5.15pm   for Saturday 15th May

The children are asked to lead the Blessed Sacrament Procession on Sunday 13th June at 3.00pm wearing their First Holy Communion clothes.

The Going Forth Mass will take place on Sunday 20th June at 11.00 am Mass.
The children wear their First Holy Communion clothes. After Mass there will be refreshments in the Hall.
