Prayers for every occasion
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy Name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace,
the Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God,
pray for us sinners,
now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
Amen.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning,
is now, and ever shall be,
world without end.
Amen.
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord.
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit, and born of the Virgin Mary
He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again.
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy Catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds hide me.
Suffer me not to be separated from you.
From the evil enemy defend me.
In the hour of my death call me.
And bid me to come to you.
That with your saints I may praise you
For ever and ever. Amen.
We pray Thee, Lord,
that our actions
may be prompted by
your holy inspirations and
furthered by your
gracious assistance :
so that every prayer and
work of ours
may always begin
from you and
through you be happily ended.
Through Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Lord Jesus Christ, at your last supper
you prayed to the Father that all should be one.
Send your Holy Spirit upon all
who bear your name and seek to serve you.
Strengthen our faith in you
and make us love one another in humility.
May we who have been reborn in one baptism
all be united in one faith under one Shepherd.
Amen.
Now as we retire to rest, guard us by Your grace and let our sleep renew in us the strength and courage to serve You faithfully tomorrow and the rest of our lives.Amen.
Almighty and merciful God, Who, moved by your infinite goodness, has been pleased to call thy servant, N., to the ministry of your altar, listen graciously to our humble prayer, that sustained by Your grace, he may become dai1y more worthy of his vocation. We beseech You, to bless and sanctify both his words and his works, through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.
Dearest Lord, teach me to be generous;
teach me to serve you as you deserve:
to give, and not to count the cost;
to fight, and not to heed the wounds;
to toil, and not to seek for rest;
to labour, and not to ask reward
- except that of knowing that I am doing your holy will.
O my God,
you who are the God of wisdom and of counsel,
Who reads in my heart the sincere will
to please You alone, and to
govern myself with regard to my choice of
a state in life entirely in conformity
to Your Holy Will, grant me, by the intercession
of the Most Blessed Virgin Mary, my Mother,
and of my holy patrons, the grace to
know what state of life I ought to choose, and
when known to embrace it, so that in it I
may be able to pursue and increase your glory,
work out my salvation, and merit that
heavenly reward which You have promised
to those who do your Will. Amen.
St. Teresa of Avila
O God,
Shepherd and Ruler of all the faithful,
look favourably upon your servant N. . .
whom you have appointed chief shepherd of the Church of N. . .
May he by word and example help those over whom he is placed,
so that shepherd and flock may reach eternal life.
May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace. Amen.
Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine on them.
May they rest in peace. Amen.
O Lord, hear my prayer,
and let my cry come to you.
O God, the creator and redeemer of all the faithful,
grant to the souls of your departed servants
the remission of all their sins that
through our prayers they may obtain that pardon
which they have always desired.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Let us pray for our Holy Father the Pope.
Heavenly Father, guide and strengthen Pope N. . . ,
chief pastor of your Church;
grant that by word and example
he may lead your people to everlasting life.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
O Almighty, everlasting God,
eternal salvation of those who believe,
hear our prayers on behalf of your ailing servants
for whom we implore the aid of your mercy,
that with health restored to them,
they may offer thanksgiving to you.
Out of the depths I have cried to Thee O Lord,
Lord hear my voice.
Let Thine ears be attentive to the voice of
my supplication.
If Thou O Lord, shall observe iniquities,
Lord who shall endure it?
For with Thee there is merciful forgiveness; and by
reason of Thy law I have waited for Thee O Lord.
My soul has relied an His word ; my soul hath
hoped in the Lord.
From the morning watch even until night, let
Israel hope in the Lord.
Because with the Lord there is mercy and
plentiful redemption, and He shall redeem Israel
from all his iniquities.
Eternal rest give unto them O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.
Amen.
Before
Bless us, O lord, and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
After
We give you thanks,
O almighty God, for all your benefits;
who live and reign, world without end. Amen.

through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
Amen.
The Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the most pure heart of Mary,
I offer you the prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of your divine heart. Amen.
A Morning Prayer
I adore you, my God, and I love you with all my heart.
I thank you for having created me, made me a Christian,
and kept me this night.
I offer you my actions of this day;
grant that they all may be according to your holy will
and for your greater glory.
Keep me from sin and all evil.
May your grace be always with me
and with all my dear ones.Amen.
O Jesus,
through the most pure heart of Mary,
I offer You all my thoughts,
words and actions
joys and sufferings,
of this day
for all the intentions
of Your most divine heart.
Lord, I expect to pass through this world
but once; any good therefore
that I can do, or any kindness that I
can show to any fellow-creature,
let me do it now ; let me
not defer or neglect it, for I shall not
pass this way again.
I adore you, my God, and I love you with all my heart.
I thank you for having created me,
made me a Christian and kept me this day.
Pardon the evil I have done,
and if I have done some good, accept it.
Take care of me while I sleep
and deliver me from all danger.
May your grace be always with me and with all my loved ones. Amen
Lord Jesus Christ, our desire is to seek you
and to love you with all our hearts.
We have committed ourselves to following you
who are the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Strengthen us to live according to the example
and teaching of your life.
Teach us to love as you did.
Help us to carry the cross daily with you.
When we are weary and over-burdened
let us hear your promise of rest.
Be with us as we travel the pilgrim road
so that our hearts may ever burn with love and joy.
Stay with us as evening comes
and light our way to where you live and reign
with the Father and the Holy Spirit
now and for ever and ever. Amen.
GOD grant me
the GRACE to accept the things I cannot change,
the COURAGE to change the things I can,
And
the WISDOM to know the difference.
LET nothing disturb thee
Nothing afright thee
All things are passing
Patience gains all,
Who serves God, wants for nothing
He alone is sufficient.
St. Teresa of Avila
O God, from whom are holy desires,
right counsels and just works,
grant to your servants that peace
which the world cannot provide;
that our hearts may be devoted
to keeping your commandments,
and with fear of the enemy removed,
may our times be peaceful under your protection
Lord make me an instrument of Your peace,
Where there is hatred,
let me sow love,
Where there is injury, pardon,
Where there is darkness, light,
Where there is sadness, joy,
Where there is doubt, faith,
And where there is despair, hope.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek
To be consoled, as to console,
To be understood, as to understand.
To be loved ,as to love
For,
It is in giving, that we receive,
It is in forgiving, that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying, that we are born
to Eternal Life
I confess to almighty God,
that I have sinned through my own fault,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and in what I have failed to do;
and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin,
all the angels and saints,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
May almighty God have mercy on me,
forgive me my sins
and bring me to everlasting life.
Amen
To live in the midst of the world
without wishing its pleasure;
To be a member of each family
yet belonging to none;
To share all sufferings
to penetrate all secrets;
to heal all wounds;
To go from men to God
and offer Him their prayers;
To return from God to men
to bring hope and pardon;
To have a heart of fire for charity
and a heart of bronze for chastity ;
To teach and to pardon
to console and bless always.
My God what a life. . .
And it is yours,
O Priest of Jesus Christ.
Lacordaire
Holy Michael, Archangel,
defend us in the day of battle;
be our safeguard against the
wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him
we humbly pray; and do thou,
Prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust down to hell Satan,
and all wicked spirits
who wander through the world far the ruin of souls.
Amen.
Come, O Holy Spirit,
fill the hearts of your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of your love.
Send forth your Spirit, and they shall be created.
And you will renew the face of the earth.
Let us pray
O God, (you) who have taught the hearts
of the faithful by the light of the Holy Spirit,
grant us by that Holy Spirit himself,
to know what is right and ever rejoice in his consolation.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen
Holy Spirit, Lord of light,
From the clear celestial height
Thy pure beaming radiance give.
Come, thou Father of the Poor,
Come with treasures that endure;
Come, thou Iight of all that live.
Thou, of all consolers best,
Thou, the souIs delightful guest,
Dost refreshing peace bestow;
Thou in toil art comfort sweet;
Pleasant coolness in the heat;
Solace in the midst of woe.
Light immortal, Light divine,
Visit thou these hearts of thine,
And our inmost being fill:
If thou take thy grace away,
Nothing pure in man will stay:
All his good is turned to ill.
Heal our wounds, our strength renew;
On our dryness pour thy dew;
Wash the stains of guilt away.
Bend the stubborn heart and will;
Melt the frozen, warm the chill;
Guide the steps that go astray.
Thou, on us who evermore
Thee confess and thee adore,
With thy sevenfold gifts descend:
Give us comfort when we die;
Give us life with thee on high;
Give us joys that never end.
Amen
God our Father
you sent your son Jesus into the world
and he in turn,
through the Holy Spirit,
sent the apostles and their successors
to continue your work
as Teacher, Priest and Shepherd.
We ask you
to choose from among us
in our Diocese,
Priests, Brothers and Sisters
who will willingly give their lives
in your service
and seek to make you better known and loved.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord
Amen
We thank you for giving us your son, Jesus Christ
as our Most Holy Redeemer and Saviour.
We thank you for the faith that has passed
down to us in this Parish, and ask you to
strengthen us in faith, hope and love.
Bless and protect our parishioners, families,
relatives and friends, through Christ our Lord.
Amen
In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit
Dear God: Thank you for bringing us on this night
and thank you for calling us on this faith journey.
We pray for the strength and courage to participate fully
in sharing our beliefs and our need to know you.
We pray for the wisdom to listen with an open and accepting mind,
respecting everyone, their privacy, their gifts and talents.
We pray for the trust needed to join in a loving circle
that we may experience belonging, acceptance
and the unconditional love you have for us.
We pray for the guidance and grace needed to build
a Catholic community of discerning believers.
We pray for your peace and the faith to know,
love and follow you.
This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen
